Barabas – A4. John’s Song

Barabas – 1976 A Tribute To Andy And Barabas (Private)

From Ebay Review
Insanely rare private pressing. This is a pressed vinyl record - not an acetate.
You can find 2 mentions of the group - one stating that they played a gig in Derby Market Place - the other stating the bass player - Sam Samways - had died. Both references spell the group name as Barabbas - the Biblical spelling. The group were local to Derby in the UK
The group had demoed for EMI and were on the verge of signing a deal when, sadly, Andy was killed in a motorbike accident. These tracks were already recorded and the LP was pressed in a tiny quantity - as a Tribute To Andy - hence the title.

I have traced a date of death for Andy to September 1976.
The run out grooves bear etched details btw - a - barabas and btw - b - barabas. I believe that this was possibly recorded sometime around 1975 , possibly early 1976, as John Borthwick is credited on 2 of the BTW releases in 1974 - BTW, in addition to being a record library label was also a recording studio - and mastered using their facilites. Sadly John Borthwick died around 10 years ago.
