The Decibels – Freddie Is Dead
This one is another fantastic submission. I give huge thanks to Chris (aka DJ Earth Tones) for sending it my way. I'd heard about this notorious 8-track many years before I heard any of the music, and it really is something else. Mesmerizingly shambolic, wonderfully raw, and beautifully freaked-out. Most tracks devolve/evolve into extended, wah-wah driven, heavy psychedelic jams. The exception being the jazzy track 'Lonely Street', which appears to have nothing to do with Super Fly and sounds like it's from a completely different, less freaky band. And yes, this song is listed as Freddie Is Dead on the tape, which is so perfect. Super wild!
