Anyone with even a passing interest in country music knows that it can get pretty dark. This song, originally performed by George Jones (Tammy Wynette claims she wrote it but probably didn't) is a perfect example of that. The sweetness and naiveté of the delivery by Ms. Simpson, and the fact that it is delivered from a female perspective, only emphasizes the pitch black theme of the song and somehow makes it even more disturbing
