Raymond J. Ruyack – Sleepless Nights (1986, US, bedroom synth loner piano)
Raymond J. Ruyack died at just 17 y/o in a car accident.
His brother Robert pressed his home-recordings (done by Ray on a boombox in the family's living room) onto vinyl in 1986, one year after Raymond passed away.
"Unfinished Dream #17" is one of the most touching albums I ever held in my hands, its an indescribable insight into the mind of a young one-in-a-million talent who probably would have achieved a lot more in his life.
These recordings "just" mark the very beginning of "Rockin' Ray's" journey, and once you understand them, you will know what it all would have become.
I will share the entire story of Raymond with more material very soon on my blog, stay tuned!
All rights to Ray's music including "Sleepless Nights" belong to his brother Robert Ruyack and Ray's Family (Roundabout Studios Inc)

The Group [USA] – a_2. If We Only Had Love
Lp: The Group, 1972 - BRC Records
Crossroads Gospelaires – The Two Coats
A soaring country gospel song, powerfully sung by group member Pam Casada, who also wrote it. This song really epitomizes why I love the sound of raw country gospel so much, despite not being at all religious myself. There's a vitality, purity, and humanity that, for me, transcends the religious themes of this music. It is still spiritual for me. Just maybe not in the way these groups intended.
