Va – 1969 Folk From Truro (Folk Heritage)

B3. High Barbaree

The Mug Band

Malcolm Burgess - Guitar
Pete White, Pete Webb - Guitar
Richard Luff, Four Truro school boys, Associated as much with the 'beat' scene as with ' folk'

Tamfolk came together in 1968, with the purpose of raising money the local youth club, opposite the Methodist Church in Truro. The eight youngsters were involved in various Methodist churches in the local arear and got together to perform a few fund raising shows.
The Methodist Church was putting together an LP to also help raise much needed funds. The group were asked to contribute to the "Folk from Truro" LP, released in 1969 on Folk Heritage record label.

Recorded in the Chapter House Hall of Truro Cathedral, recordings were made by Margaret Haile's father. Margaret Haile's (who also appeared on the LP) father sang for the Stithians Male Voice Choir and arrange for the recording equipment. The group recorded live with guitar (played by Gill and Vicky), Tamborine (Janet) and Piano, which was played by Brian Coleman (who also acted as musical director). Brian also wrote the music to their song 'Our City', with lyrics from Ian Haile (who also appeared alongside wife Margaret on the record). After the record was pressed the group realised that a double bass had been overdubbed onto their record without their knowledge, and much to their chagrin.

The group would gig throughout Cornwall, gathering up another two members on the way. They sang mostly gospel and performed mostly through the Methodist Church network. In 1969 they were invited to attend the annual National Methodist Association of Youth Clubs (MAYC) folk weekend in London and got to perform at the historic Central Hall Westminster.

Sektion XI – Stilletoes – ( National Health Rec 1989 ) Vocoder Electro Funk

Vocoder Electro Funk Obscurity here, extremely rare! Sounds more like mid80s, 1985-1986 style!! After some Investigations I found out that it's a UK Release from 1989! There's no year mentioned, but after double checking there's "MCMLXXXIX" typed on the Label which is the Roman Number for 1989! Very unique tune, different from anything else that I head before! I haven't seen many copies in my life, definitely very collectable! I uploaded the full song … so check it out, this Jam is funky fresh!! Peace
